ROMAN - BYZANTINE TOUR IN BULGARIA

Culture program - 8 days

         Route
Day 1: Arrival at Sofia airport. Free time. Overnight in Sofia at Bulgaria hotel (3 stars).
Day 2. Sofia to Boyana Church and back (40 km/25 miles):
Sightseeing of the Bulgarian Capital - the National Museum, the old Church "St.Georgi" (4th century), the Alexander-Nevski-Cathedral and the Boyana-Church (11th cent.). Bulgaria hotel.
Day 3: Sofia to Veliko Tarnovo (230 km/143 miles):
Travel to Veliko Tarnovo. Sightseeing of the medieval Bulgarian Capital Veliko Turnovo (Tsarevets hill with the stronghold). Overnight in Veliko Turnovo at Yantra hotel (3 stars).
Day 4: Veliko Turnovo to Arbanassi and back (60 km/37 miles):
Sightseeing of the churches "Peter and Pavel" (13th cent.), "St. Dimiter" (12th cent.) and the architectural reserve "Arbanassi" (sightseeing of old  houses, churches and monasteries). Yantra hotel.
Day 5: Veliko Turnovo to Varna (230 km/143 miles):
Travel to Varna. Near Madara visiting of the Roman villas (2th cent.) and the Madara Rider (8th cent.). Sightseeing of the Roman Thermal Baths (4th cent.) and the historical museum in Varna. Overnight in Varna at Cherno more hotel (3 stars).
Day 6: Varna to Kazanlak (320 km/199 miles):
Travel to Nessebar. Sightseeing of the churches (5th - 14th cent.) in the old town Messembria (situated on a peninsula). Travel to Kazanluk town. Sightseeing of the Thracian Tomb (4th - 3rd cent. BC). Overnight in Kazanluk at Kazanluk hotel (3 stars).
Day 7: Kazanluk to Plovdiv (110 km/68 miles):
Travel to Hissar and sightseeing of the walls (4th cent.) of the Roman stronghold. Travel to Plovdiv and sightseeing of the Old Town - some old houses and churches and the Roman Amphitheater (2th cent.). Overnight in Plovdiv at Leipzig hotel (3 stars).
Day 8: Plovdiv to Sofia (150 km/93 miles):
The tourists travel to Sofia Airport. Flight back home.

REMARKS

Normally our company ensures:
     - half board;
     - Accompanying of the group by a foreign language speaking guide from Sofia to Sofia;
     - Transfer - from Sofia to Sofia;
